Samba

What is Samba? Watch BBC clip introducing Samba

Listen to the  three pieces of music below and focus on the dynamics and pitch (major) and use of chords to accompany.

Reminder

Dymanics: In music, dynamics means how loud or quiet the music is. In written music the dynamics are shown by letters which stand for Italian words for the dynamic levels. P=piano (loud) f = forte (quiet)

Pitch: In music the pitch of a note means how high or low a note is. The pitch of a note can be measured in a unit called Hertz. A note that is vibrating at 256 Hz will be caused by sound waves that vibrate at 256 times a second. (Nice science link from our sound learning)

What instruments can you hear in the pieces?  If you are stuck, the final video link, at the end of this page, may helps you but try without it first.
