Transition Support

The School Nursing service have been in touch to share their  resources to help with your smooth transition to secondary school.

Here is a really useful Powerpoint for you to share with your parents. Make sure you have a quiet space where you can sit down together to talk through any questions or concerns you have as you go through the Powerpoint and video together. The pictures are an exact copy of the PowerPoint but click on the link to access the actual PowerPoint and video link.

The links below provide more activities and resources for you to share with your parents during this transition period into secondary school. If you feel you would like to discuss any of this further, or if you would like more support, please make sure you contact your teacher who will be more than happy to help you.

Hi Year 6!

It was lovely to see some of you and your parents last week when you collected your books. It was sad to say goodbye, but great to see your smiling faces once more.

We are still busy at school preparing the Leavers' Videos but when all this is done, we will share the Virtual Videos with you all.

Make sure that you continue to take a look at your secondary school website for lots of information about transition. Bay House and Brune Park are continuing to host a Story Session at 2:30 every Friday, so follow the link above to take part or to watch previous ones.

Also, all schools are now hosting virtual or 'real' tours for you to get to meet your tutor and new learning environments. Keep an eye out for information about these in the post and in your parents' email inboxes. If you are not too sure about any of this, please ask a Year 6 teacher at school or email your transition lead at your secondary school.

Bye for now...

Grange Readers

If you haven't yet, take a look at our Grange Reader Flyers - they contain information about books, but they also include links to art activities, useful websites and there's other activities for you to do and have a look at. Each flyer has a topic theme.

Enjoy and share any work that you complete or any websites that you have been using that might be useful for others.

Home Learning due to school closure:

Due to the imposed school closure, we have put together some ideas for home learning for Year 6.  All children have been given a purple book to record all their learning in and this should be brought back to school on their return.

We will update these links as regularly as we can to keep the children interested and active.

Year 6 Homework

  •  Practise spellings in spelling journal 3 x a week, using one of the spelling activities in the front of the book
  •  Practise times tables 3 x a week (e.g. out of order, orally. tests, using online activities)

  • There will be a weekly literacy/numeracy homework sheet

Autumn Term Learning Journeys

Spring 1 2020 - We have been learning about phenominal natural events and we have used this to write some personification poetry about these.

During Science week Year 6 visited CEMAST to learn about careers related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. We were inspired by the positivity of the staff and the way we can interact in different careers through the use of technology. We are now inspired!
