Isle of Wight - Year 5 May 2025

The children arrived safely on the IOW. 🏝 They are all having a great time.  On Monday they visited Osbourne House and then had an evening walk along the beach learning about how the French invaded the IOW.

Tuesday they spent some of the day at Carisbrooke castle, the children climbed the steep steps upto the massive castle mound to enjoy unrivalled birds-eye views from the ancient castle keep, then after lunch we went to the Donkey Sanctuary where we adopted 3 donkeys and these were chosen by the children.  In the evening we visited the Glory Glass Art to watch a demonstration on how glass is heated and then mounded into what ever you want to make and hopefully they have brought something nice back for their parents.

On Wednesday we spend the day on the beach fossil hunting and painting stones, later that afternoon we had a talk and they went fossil hunting and found some lovely crystals in stones and dinosaur foot prints that have been on the beach for thousand of years it was very impressive.  In the evening the children had a movie night with popcorn.

Thursday we spend most of the day at the Monkey Haven and had a lovely talk from one of the keepers and they learned so much information regarding the animals and how some were rescued.  In the evening we had the magic man visit the hotel and did a fantastic show of magic the kids were blown away by this.

Friday we visited the Arcade where the children had some pocket money to spend they were very well behaved and had great fun then it was lunch and then time to head back on the ferry back home!  What a glorious week we all had.
