CHARTWELLS

Chartwells will be replacing HC3S from 5TH JANUARY 2026 they will be our new catering team.  Chartwells are very experienced and enthusiastic about feeding children well and offering tasty meals from nutritionally balanced menus.

If your child needs a specific medically requested diet  please contact your school office (eg wheat and gluten free (coeliac), egg free and dairy free diets).  Chartwells are always happy to hear your comments, suggestions and ideas about improving the meals they offer and if you require any further information, then please contact them and they will be pleased to help.

A three week rolling menu is published. Families are encouraged to talk through the menu with their child.

Home Packed Lunches: If your child would still prefer to bring a packed lunch from home please ensure their name is clearly marked on the outside of ALL containers and of their packed lunch box. Please do not send in any glass containers. Please do not include any hot soups, flasks, sweets, chocolate, fizzy or dark coloured drinks.

Your child must bring their water bottle into school every day – preferably empty please so that they can fill their bottle with fresh water in school.

These bottles are for water only.

The school kitchen can provide lunches for children at a cost of £2.75 for a main meal and dessert, or you can provide your child with a healthy, home packed lunch.

Packed lunches should include:

  • at least one portion of fruit and one portion of vegetables every day.
  • meat, fish or other source of non-dairy protein (e.g. lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, hummus, and falafel) every day.
  • oily fish, such as salmon, at least once every three weeks.
  • a starchy food such as any type of bread, pasta, rice, couscous, noodles, potatoes or other type of cereals every day.
  • dairy food such as milk, cheese, yoghurt, or custard everyday
  • only still water, fruit juice, semi-skimmed or skimmed milk, yoghurt or milk drinks and smoothies.

Packed lunches should not include:

  • Nuts/peanut butter – due to the increasing number of children we have in school with nut allergies
  • Snacks such as crisps. Instead, include seeds, vegetables and fruit (with no added salt, sugar or fat). Savoury crackers or breadsticks served with fruit, vegetables or dairy food are also a good choice.
  • Confectionery such as chocolate bars, chocolate-coated biscuits and sweets. Cakes and biscuits are allowed but encourage your child to eat these only as part of a balanced meal.
  • Meat products such as sausage rolls, individual pies, corned meat and sausages / chipolatas – these should be included only occasionally.

If your child has any allergies then to be able to have school lunches you will need to complete an application forms - Please see below - both forms need to be filled out and returned to the office - (medical evidence will be needed as well)
