Ancient Butser Farm - Year 3

As part of their History topic ‘Invaders and Settlers’, we would like to take the Year 3 children for a whole day visit to Butser Ancient Farm.  The date for the trip is:

Wednesday 21st September – 3CP
Thursday 22nd September – 3KO
Monday 26th September – 3AH

The day will involve a lot of exciting ‘hands-on’ experiences which could well result in the children becoming almost as grimy as Ancient Celts, so it would be wise for them to wear old clothes and wellies if possible, with clean footwear to change into.  You will need to provide your child with a packed lunch and a water bottle, please tick appropriate box below.

Please advise us of any medical condition your child may have eg an allergy or asthma, and ensure they are carrying any necessary medication with them on the day.  The total cost of admission to the farm, activities and transport (coach) is £13.00, this price has been greatly reduced due to receiving a School Trip Grant from South Downs National Park.  If you would like your child to go on the Butser Ancient Farm visit please complete the form below and return it to school as soon as possible.

Watercress Line – Year 6

As part of Year 6 History Topic – ‘Victorians and the Railways’, we are taking Year 6 to the Watercress Line in Alresford.  This is a trip that happens each year and is a very educational, successful and enjoyable trip.

The dates for the trips are:

Wednesday 28th September – 6SLS
Thursday 6th October – 6AJ
Thursday 13th October – 6TC

The cost for travel which will be by school minibus, the journey on the steam train and the activities planned on the visit is £12

All children should have now received a letter regarding arrangements and details of the day outlined, if you have not received a letter please contact the office and we can re-issue one.

If you are happy for your child to come on this educational and exciting day out, please complete the slip attached to your letter along with the money and return to the school office at your earliest convenience.

Vikings Workshop - Year 4

As part of our History topic - The Vikings, we have arranged for ‘Portals to the Past’ to come into school on Monday 3rd October 2022 and spend the whole day with Year 4.  Portals to the Past is a company who provide history workshops for schools across the country.

The workshops cover a wide spectrum of Viking life and times.  The workshops aim to bring this fascinating piece of history to life for the children (and teachers too!!).  To enhance the day, we would love the children to dress up and we have put a document on the school website with some ideas for making one.  Go to Pupils, Class Pages, Year 4 and you will then see a page Viking Costume Ideas.

To assist in the cost of the workshops we are asking for £6.15 from every pupil to help cover their costs.  We are sure the workshops will provide great fun whilst learning about Viking life.
